Building the New Digital Reality
There is a sense among the broader audience that Metaverse could be just another marketing gimmick, and the mainstream perhaps has a blind spot for overwhelming and life-changing initiatives of this kind.
Nonetheless, whether we like it or not, the creation of digital worlds has already begun without waiting for mass approval
Undoubtedly many of the most famous inventions in history suffered a great deal of public ridicule before becoming universally accepted. They are essential to our modern existence today, but inventions like electric energy, light bubble, airplanes, cars, telephones, and even personal computers have been laughed at in the past.
Blockchain Technology Paves the Way
The Advent of the Internet, which had a significant impact on many technological breakthroughs and touched our everyday lives, began more than 40 years ago.
The Internet and Blockchain Technology now play a pivotal role in creating the Metaverse and bringing together physical and virtual worlds.
Moreover, according to the PwC survey, Blockchain will revolutionize the business and economy we know today and is expected to create 40 million jobs and $1.78 trillion by 2030.
Builders of the Metaverse
Meanwhile, Metaverse got a green light from numerous world industry giants, like Lego & Sony, Meta, Microsoft, and Tesla, to name a few. They are all racing to claim their digital piece of land, name, fame, and glory.
In fact, Metaverse Industry Growth is predicted to reach a breathtaking $670 billion by 2030, increasing up to 40% over the next eight years.
One of the teams on the front line building the Metaverse is Bloktopia. Bloktopia Metaverse Skyscraper sets the bar high when it comes to developing immersive 3D virtual worlds.
As an early mover that is constantly pushing the envelope and making new significant partnerships almost on a daily basis, it puts itself at the top of the Metaverse game.
Recently, the Bloktopia team announced their new Roadmap, which outlines a complete set of development plans for 2022, and they have already laid the groundwork for the launch of the Bloktopia Alpha BLOK VR in Q2 2022.

Bloktopia is building its Metaverse with Unity Engine, and there is some important news about Bloktopia switching to Unity URP. But first, let’s take a look at what is Unity Engine.
What is Unity Engine?
Unity is the leading-edge and the industry’s most advanced 3D Creation Engine for building spectacular visualizations and experiences.
A majority of all gaming studios use Unity nowadays, especially when creating mobile games. Numerous console and PC games are also designed using Unity.
Game developers used to write out game programs with tons of artwork, animation, and sounds. Then they had to write the rendering engine, the animation, sound, and the physics system as well. Once they decided to port their game to another platform, they had to start from scratch.
Unity Platform Developer-Friendly
Challenging that problem, Unity successfully gave the competing edge to game developers and creators today with its platform and robust infrastructure.
Unity’s developer-friendly pricing structure also significantly contributed to its popularity.
With Unity, game companies do not have to give a cut of their revenue. Instead, they pay Unity per seat as part of their subscription. In other cases, they will need to sign revenue-sharing agreements with other companies to use their engine.
Using Unity 3D Engine, Bloktopia will build its most attractive feature, the Bloktopia Metaverse.
Bloktopia Switches to Unity URP
URP First Look, Q2 2022 Milestone On Schedule
Bloktopia has announced progress against its Product Roadmap, with work nearing completion on the rebuild of the base code from High Definition Render Pipeline (HDRP) to URP (Universal Render Pipeline) within the Unity Gaming Engine.
URP over HDRP?
The original vision for Bloktopia was pulled together using assets from the Unity store on the HDRP. The long-term plan was to introduce an Art Department that could conceptualize and create more interesting and exciting areas to add to that look and feel. With a new Art Department in place, it was then a case of comparing which pipeline to use.
A game, or in this case Metaverse, which is built-in HDRP, only targets hardware like a PC, Playstation, or Xbox, meaning that Bloktopia wouldn’t have been as accessible across multiple devices.
The team also felt that building the entire 21-level Skyscraper in HDRP would pose challenges because of graphical requirements and ultimately would have taken longer.
What is Exactly Unity HDRP?
Unity HDRP stands for High Definition Rendering Pipeline, an infrastructure that enables users to achieve the graphics standard with high performance.
The High Definition Render Pipeline (HDRP) is a high-fidelity Scriptable Render Pipeline built by Unity to target modern (Compute Shader compatible) platforms.
HDRP utilizes Physically-Based Lighting techniques, linear lighting, HDR lighting, and a configurable hybrid Tile/Cluster deferred/Forward lighting architecture.
Unity HDRP gives the tools to create applications such as games, technical demos, and animations to a high graphical standard.
Projects made with HDRP are not compatible with the Universal Render Pipeline (URP). HDRP features are not cross-compatible between HDRP and URP.
However, if someone wants to create a game that has top-of-the-line graphics with a light drawing process and works on desktops, laptops, and consoles, then Unity URP will be a better option.
What is Unity URP?
URP (The Universal Render Pipeline) is a prebuilt Scriptable Render Pipeline made by Unity. URP provides artist-friendly workflows that let users quickly and easily create optimized graphics across a range of platforms, from mobile to high-end consoles and PCs.
Using the Universal Render Pipeline (URP), it is possible to achieve realistic lighting that is suitable for a range of art styles.
For example, Unity URP 11 adds support for Point Light shadows. Point Light shadows helps create more realistic simulations of local sources of light, such as lamps, torches, campfires, etc.
Bloktopia Moves to URP
URP is the go-to render pipeline. It’s designed to run on any platform, with great performance. Importantly, it also gives the opportunity to run a BLOK VR version.
Bloktopia was also keen to make this decision on the basis that it wouldn’t impact the graphics. Bringing in a new Art Department allows the team to play around more with aesthetics, which effectively means making the game look good, and the team is really pleased with the work delivered so far.
Multiplayer & VR Oculus Quest 2
The next step for the team is to improve Level One of Bloktopia even more, with the development and delivery of modular store capability and multiplayer functionality ahead of the Bloktopia VR version of the Alpha compatible with Oculus Quest 2, which will launch in Q2 2022.
Bloktopia is a decentralized Web3 Crypto Gaming Metaverse powered by Polygon, designed to deliver an unforgettable VR experience to the crypto community and connect users in one immersive and engaging virtual world.
The Bloktopia Web3 Skyscraper is essentially a building with 21 floors dedicated to honoring 21 million Bitcoins.
The Bloktopia Skyscraper will represent the central hub and be the gathering place for all cryptocurrency-related levels of expertise.
With Bloktopia, VR is utilized to interact, play crypto-based games, enjoy, and engage in many ways, enabling the first-person perspective unavailable anywhere else.
Bloktopia will bring crypto-related information and interactive content under the same roof for the very first time. Token owners will be known as Bloktopians, and Bloktopia will serve as a central hub for crypto enthusiasts at all levels.
In the Bloktopia Metaverse, players will earn revenue through a variety of opportunities, including real estate ownership, advertising revenue, and Play-To-Earn games and activities.
Bloktopia’s four guiding principles
This is the first segment that takes into account how difficult it can be to navigate the crypto world.
The Internet is flooded with resources and information on Crypto and Web3, including YouTube, Telegram, and Crypto Twitter, and they are very fragmented at the moment.
Bloktopia is geared towards addressing this challenge by positioning itself as a central hub where users can gather and learn in a safe and open environment.
With the many income streams offered by Bloktopia, there are many ways to earn revenue. Bloktopians have many options for building wealth, including Bloktopia real estate, passive earning, advertising, and staking.
Play is another essential component of any metaverse ecosystem, and competition, fun, and relaxation cannot exist without it. Through Bloktopia, users are able to interact with friends, play interactive games, and network while exploring a virtual reality world from a first-person viewpoint.
Finally, developers will give their users the chance to push the limits of their creativity by designing scenes, challenges, artworks, and more, creating them with a simple tool, and then participating in events to win prizes.
